The Duke of Atholl, a serving peer and the Chair of the House of Lords Appointments Commission, has hit back at the BBC following an article published last night, which cited criticisms of the the Appointment Commission’s existence.
The Duke is joined by two of his affiliates, also members of the Lords, being the Lord Calcutta and the Lord Reigate.
The trio have publicly called for the immediate privatisation of the Corporation, claiming it is a “complete joke” and saying that they let “anyone” in their f*cking newsroom”, even though the Corporation has no newsroom.
In a statement to the BBC, the Duke of Atholl said:
“Ss the former Chairman of Ofcom, I am joining many others who are calling for the end of this state-owned news corporation, which is wholly unserious, and calling for its immediate privatisation, preferably to the Dean Heathcote Company”.
The BBC Director-General replied, calling his calls “utter woke nonsense”.
