DatDonutDev has announced his resignation as Chairman of Ofcom, the UK’s media and communications regulator.
He shared that he “no longer” has the time to serve in the role.
DatDonutDev has served as the Chairman of Ofcom for over a year. He was appointed as the regulator’s Chair back when Ofcom was a subsidiary agency of the UK Department for Culture, Media & Sport.
Ofcom has since moved to serve as an agency of His Majesty’s Treasury since the DCMS was abolished by the last Unionist government.
Reflecting on all activity and the development of the media sector, Dev claimed he is happy with the progress and changes made both to Ofcom and to the media sector.
In a letter addressed to the Chancellor, drIpxsss_1, Dev shared that “the media sector is one of the most creative and unique aspects of the group, and I hope to see it continue to flourish”.
The outgoing Chairman thanked several members of public service and former government officials for their support during his time in the role, as well as those individuals running media companies for making “big contributions and innovations in the media sector.”
Dev will stay on temporarily as Ofcom Chair until a suitable replacement is found by senior Treasury officials, and will support through the transition period, with assurance that he will remain on the Board for 2 months to support the new Chairman, before fully stepping away.
The Chancellor and HM Treasury have not yet commented on the resignation.
