The Social Democrats have secured an overall majority in Dáil Éireann following the publication of official election results by the Electoral Commission.
Led by SethONeill, the party won 89 votes, representing 58.17% of valid ballots cast, and secured 12 of the 21 seats available in the Dáil. The result gives the Social Democrats enough seats to govern independently.
Fine Gael finished second with 39 votes (25.49%) and returned six TDs, while Sinn Féin won 16 votes (10.46%) and secured two seats. Fianna Fáil received nine votes (5.88%) and returned one TD.

According to the Electoral Commission, turnout stood at 160 votes, of which 153 were deemed valid. Seven ballots were recorded as invalid or spoiled.
The new Dáil is expected to convene on Wednesday 30 September to nominate a Taoiseach, after which the next Government of Ireland will be formally appointed.
The result marks a significant victory for the Social Democrats, who enter the new parliamentary term with a clear majority and control of the legislative agenda.
