The Yang di-Pertuan Persekutuan of Malaysia and His Majesty the King addressed Members of Parliament and Peers in Westminster Hall this evening as part of the formers state visit to the United Kingdom. Prior to the event a state Banquet in honour of the Malaysian Head of State was held at Buckingham Palace.
The event was billed as a celebration of the ever enduring partnership between the United Kingdom and Malaysia with past visits from the Malaysian head of state to the United Kingdom having been successful.
Both addresses focused on the fruits of such a partnership and a commitment to ensure continued cooperation and allyship on the world stage.
Further addresses from Speakers of both Houses, the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and other senior parliamentary officials followed on a similar celebratory tone before the event ended to allow for peers to advance to their weekly legislative sitting.
