The First Minister of Northern Ireland, leahvnx, has given a public statement following the news of the Northern Irish Social Democrats withdrawing their confidence and supply agreement that formed the Northern Ireland Executive with Leah’s party, Unity.
In the public statement, Leah reflected on recent news about the Social Democrats which have recently faced a lot of political uncertainty, after their now former leader, Saint_Eman, was removed from Stormont due to prolonged inactivity and their recent “installation of an unelected successor”. She classed the recent decisions of the Social Democrats as “a series of deeply concerning developments”.
Despite the dissolution of the agreement, the First Minister has assured Northern Irish citizens that she “will not be intimidated by those who seek to undermine devolution”, before accentuating that “the Executive … exists to serve the people of Northern Ireland, and remains the only democratically elected government they have”.
She made clear that government will not come to a halt as a result of the recent decision, as she remains “committed to the mandate we were elected to deliver…we will continue to govern, and … deliver for the people of Northern Ireland.”
