National Party Chairman Resigns Following Coalition Collapse

pokemonarulelol has stepped down as Chairman of the National Party after the collapse of the Cavalier–National coalition earlier this week, acknowledging internal tensions and admitting he had become out of touch with parts of the party.

In a statement announcing his resignation, pokemonarulelol said the fall of the coalition had been widely expected. He also sharply criticised Cavalier leader NotChocolatePlayz, describing him as “an extremely weak leader” who acted as “a puppet for his party chair.”

Reflecting on his own leadership style, pokemonarulelol said he preferred a hands-off approach as chairman, allowing the party leader to guide the parliamentary party while he offered advice rather than instructions. However, he admitted this approach had unintended consequences.

“I feel this ultimately left me out of the loop on a lot of things and out of touch with the parliamentary party,” he said, revealing that the Party Board had advised him to resign from the position.

The outgoing chairman said the decision had come unexpectedly and that he was unsure how he would proceed politically, though he made clear he does not intend to disappear from the community entirely. “One thing I will guarantee you is that this will not be the last you see of me,” he wrote.

He also used the statement to reflect on his conduct in recent months, saying he plans to take time to reassess his role and behaviour after admitting he had disappointed many people. “I know I have displeased many people recently and I have been a huge letdown. This is not the kind of politician I wish to be,” he said.

Despite the resignation, pokemonarulelol praised National Party leader TheRightHon, thanking him for his service and describing him as a friend. He acknowledged the pair had disagreements during his tenure as chairman but said they had always managed to resolve them.

Full Statement

Whomever it may concern,
This week we saw the fall of the Cavalier-National coalition, this was something that I think came as a shock to no one. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

NotChocolatePlayz is an extremely weak leader and he was just a puppet for his party chair.

I have a very different outlook on Chairmanship, I tend to let the Party Leader proceed with the parliamentary party how they wish and advise, not tell. However, I feel this ultimately left me out of the loop on a lot of things and out of touch with the parliamentary party. Today, the Party Board advised me to resign as Party Chairman.

I am unsure on how I will proceed with politics in the future, it has been the baseline of my involvement in this community for a long time now. I did not expect to be making this decision today. One thing I will guarantee you is that this will not be the last you see of me.

I think what my actions say over the last few months is I need to take a serious reflection on where I stand and how I behave myself. I am going to improve this about myself as I know I have displeased many people recently and I have been a huge letdown. This is not the kind of politician I wish to be.

I thank TheRightHon for his service to the Party as Leader and for being a friend to me. We did fallout during my time as Chairman on occasion but we worked through it every time. When a Party wants what is best for the country, there will be internal fallouts from time to time. It is stressful working to earn the best but that is what the National Party has done and will continue to do for you.
