“After the second budget passed following a flawed revote, the Chancellor has now opened the door to even more reckless spending”, c_4allum said.

The Leader of the Opposition’s comments followed Ognian0’s first budget as Chancellor of the Exchequer passing the House of Commons on Saturday evening, despite a comprehensive report on the previous Finance (July) Bill 2026, having not yet been released by the Treasury.
The core concern stems from the fact that the 14 day period ends on the 12th of September, the day the 94th Parliament is due to dissolve ahead of the next General Election which is leading to concern the report could be missed entirely, violating the Budget Transparency Act 2026.

The Budget Transparency Act 2026 was a cornerstone government policy for the Treasury this term and received Royal Assent on the 27th of July, aiming to increase accountable around spending and the travel of funds.
