The Prime Minister, BarendFrederickShaw, has called a snap general election after feeling “proud” of the Government he has led, which “set a standard that will be difficult to replicate”.
In his statement, the PM shared some of his key highlights of the policies made from the State Opening of Parliament back in late May, including, but not limited to:
- Reestablishment of the Space programme, with the subsequent re-establishment of Oxford University.
- Review of Ministry of Justice practices with the reestablishment of the Judicial Appointments Commission.
- Bringing the biggest changes to criminal legislation since 2022 through working with Metropolitan Police, “empowering police officers and enhancing community engagement”.
Despite facing several ministerial resignations during the course of the term, the Cosmocratic-Action-Unionist coalition government managed to complete “more than 55% of the agenda set out at the State Opening”, calling it “the most successful Government in over a year”.
The PM ended his statement explaining the decision to call an election, sharing how the British public was needed to “effectively complete and extend their agenda”, with the Government requiring “a stronger mandate from the British people”.
The Electoral Commission has set out the timetable for the July election, since His Majesty dissolved Parliament on the PM’s request:
- Registration Period – open now until 8th July at 14:00 BST
- Campaign Period – 8 July 14:00 BST to 12 July 20:00 BST
- Voting Period – 12 July 20:00 BST to 13 July 20:00 BST
