Speaking in an exclusive interview with the BBC, ReuHR said the Social Democrats’ platform was centred around what was described as “decisive action and clear vision”.
“The Social Democrats stand for decisive action and clear vision,” ReuHR said.
A key part of the party’s plans would involve efforts to revitalise the private sector through the introduction of Business Fairs aimed at connecting employers with people seeking work opportunities.
According to ReuHR, the Social Democrats also intend to introduce biweekly parliamentary surgeries involving backbench and frontbench politicians in order to maintain stronger engagement with the public.
“We will also launch biweekly Parliamentary surgeries to ensure Backbenchers and, at times, Frontbenchers remain closely engaged with the public,” ReuHR said.
When asked about priorities if elected, ReuHR said the party’s immediate focus would be on increasing activity and engagement across the wider community.
“My top priority is the British Electorate,” ReuHR said.
ReuHR added that the Social Democrats would seek to organise both private sector and public service events as part of a broader effort to encourage in-game activity and participation.
Addressing criticism of the party, ReuHR acknowledged that there had been a “mixed reaction” to the Social Democrats’ previous time in government.
“I don’t believe we properly communicated what we were doing,” ReuHR said.
ReuHR said some voters may have been left disappointed by the party’s performance in office, but argued that the Social Democrats had consistently prioritised action over rhetoric.
“What the party and I believe in is action, and that is what we have tried doing all the time,” ReuHR said, while also promising improved communication should the Social Democrats return to government.
Asked why voters should trust the Social Democrats to lead the country, ReuHR pointed to a long-standing focus on increasing activity and cooperation across the political spectrum.
“I have always had a bipartisan reach to work together with other parties,” ReuHR said.
ReuHR added that any future government led by the Social Democrats would continue to work with political opponents where possible in order to “build a better Community”.
The Social Democrats are currently the minor coalition partner in the current government and are seeking to increase their seat share.
