National Party Faces 10% Election Penalty Over Reform Delay

The National Party has been issued a 10% deduction for the May 2026 General Election after failing to implement agreed constitutional reforms introduced two months ago.

The Electoral Commission stated that all other parties have complied with the changes, leaving the National Party as the only group yet to meet the requirements. The penalty is set to increase by a further 5% for each additional week the reforms remain unimplemented.
