A government source close to the BBC has revealed that plans to re-privatise Mountbatten Express, one of Britain’s oldest businesses, are contained within the King’s Speech.
The plans will see the National Holdings Company return their 49% stake in the business back to Mountbatten Companies LTD.
The partial nationalisation of Mountbatten Express occurred in February 2026 following a period of decline and inactivity, with hopes that the government at the time could help to drive growth and improve its operations.
The Prime Minister met with the Chief Executive Officer of Mountbatten Express earlier this week, to discuss “government plans for the private sector”, which the sources now claim involve the re-privatisation of the business.
The pledge is set to be announced tomorrow evening, Saturday 10 October during the King’s Speech.
