Early into the night, a heavy goods vehicle crashed into the side of Sovereign’s Clothing on Commercial Street, the driver inside was ejected from the vehicle and is currently in critical condition.
The vehicle appears to have skidded off the road in the rain and smashed straight through the glass window causing a minor fire and a ceiling collapse inside the building.
Only the driver of the vehicle was injured and the building was secured by the Fire service.
UPDATE: The driver is in good condition and is now recovering at St Matlock Hospital.
