St John Ambulance has been provided necessary legislation to be considered a uniformed service and has been officially allowed to respond to emergency calls, assisting professional emergency services medically and responding in themselves to lower-level emergencies, a publication from Home Secretary L_etec states.
St John Ambulance is a volunteer auxiliary ambulance service that can provide world-class healthcare throughout the UK. They currently plan to host three roles for members to take part in, they are as follows;
Community First Aiders, who will be able to provide basic medical provision,
Emergency Responders who have more qualification to respond in emergencies, being able to provide medication, and deliver basic life support at incidents, and finally,
Emergency Ambulance Crews, equivalent to the London Ambulance Service’s Emergency Medical Technicians, of which are paramedics with a smaller scope of practice. They are the most senior, although still not healthcare professionals.
St John Ambulance employs no healthcare professionals and is solely a volunteer organisation. It is planning to receive training with and alongside the London Ambulance Service and also operate alongside them to expand both organisation’s capacity and healthcare ability.
The BBC reached out to the Deputy Chief Commissioner of St John Ambulance for a comment, in which he responded;
“We are excited to open our doors to the public, building a strong, courageous and professional team of volunteers.”, he said, “We have ambitious plans for the future, hoping to form strong relationships with our customers who choose us as their medical provider at events.”
Following the statement, he also added that any business hosting events in Westbridge can receive support from St John Ambulance by opening a ticket in their server, with the link as follows, in which you can find here.
