MRBUCEISMAY22 resigned as Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons however his resignation has received mixed opinions from several MPs, with many suggesting it is time for a change.
Independent MP MasonCathcart commented on the parliamentary feed, sharing “I am disappointed by the resignation of the Deputy Speaker. I believe he should’ve stayed and that’s something I privately urged him to do.”
Eamonn_McGrath, MP for London & Westminster, shared that “I had the privilege of working with the former Deputy Speaker on many occasions, but it is clear the chamber needs a new voice.”
In public knowledge, ASimplistics and DraggedFork are the two front-running MPs likely to take over the Deputy Speakership, with ASimplistics having already received 2 endorsements.
DraggedFork shared in his candidacy announcement post that his “platform is based on reliability, transparency and dialogue. Only that can help ensure the Speakership as a whole remains a trusted institution.”
