INITIUS_OPFOR, the Lord Graffon of Kirkcaldy, has been appointed by His Majesty the King to serve as Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, as the organisation is reestablished.
The Commonwealth of Nations was dissolved in July last year and replaced, following the enactment of the Commonwealth Act 2025, with the Commonwealth Office, a separate government ministry working in tandem with the Foreign Office to coordinate wider diplomatic relations on behalf of the United Kingdom.
Following an audience with His Majesty at the Palace this morning, the Lord Graffon confirmed in a statement that he will only serve “for a tenure of one month”, with his primary responsibility being “to restore the organization to full operational capacity and place it on a path toward long-term self-sufficiency”, where he subsequently plans to meet with “Heads of Government to re-establish collaboration and identify sustainable ways to ensure the Commonwealth’s continued success” and establish a new Secretariat.
