Government ends footballing partnership with immediate effect

The Chancellor has announced that the partnership with the English Conference League will be terminated immediately

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, SimplyBeario, has issued a formal notice announcing the termination of the partnership between His Majesty’s Treasury and the English Conference League.

Speaking regarding the partnership, the Chancellor said that the decision was made following an agreement that the partnership has “provided no tangible benefits for either party”.

In a statement made to the BBC, the Chancellor said,

“The termination of the partnership was thought to be the best path forward by both sides, seeing as the head of the League himself said the league was dying due to Roblox’s increased moderation”

What is the English Conference League?

The English Conference League is a football organisation which registered with the Treasury in July 2025.

It officially signed the partnership with the Treasury in February 2026, just 7 months after its initial registration with Companies House.

The League was one of the most established leagues within the Roblox community, and the Chancellor at the time, AdaptedFrost, said that the partnership was a “strong opportunity for the sporting scene”.
