King of Malaysia appointed Colonel of the Regiment of the Blues and Royals

The appointment was confirmed in a post made on X by the Chief of the Defence Staff this evening.

The King of Malaysia, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, has been appointed as the Colonel of the Blues and Royals following a period of growing cohesion between the UK and Malaysia.

The position is an honorary, ceremonial figurehead position rather than an active operational rank, and serves as a paternal guide, patron, and “father figure” for the regimental family.
