Cabinet Office announces abolition of the Awards Commission

The Commission was established by the previous government in August 2026, tasked with managing the Gromits award scheme.

Earlier this evening, the secretary of state for the Cabinet Office, TheReuHR, announced that the Awards Commission will be abolished effective immediately.

The Commission was formed under the previous National Democrats government, with the intention of managing the Gromits Award Scheme and helping increase recognition of British business.

Speaking regarding the decision to close the Commission, the Lord Chippenham said “only racists are against the awards commission”.

However, critics of the body have praised the decision, with one member of the public saying “a good start [to the term] frankly”, with another saying “what is the awards commission?”

The move was one promised in the For Britain manifesto, as part of their pledge to “cut down on bureaucracy”.
