Chancellor of the Exchequer, Ognian0 has passed his first budget since arriving in Number 11, narrowly and not without controversy.
On its first vote the budget failed with For Britain and the Unionist Party voting against its measures, but a dispute led to a second vote permitted by the Speaker of the House of Commons leading to the Finance (September) Bill 2026 passing 19-17, a majority of two votes.
The budget passed with the support of regional members such as leahvnx of Northern Ireland, votes that the government which finds itself in minority status found crucial to ensuring the budget passed.
The measures contained within the Finance Bill include support for the government’s flagship National Credit Union and assisting the devolved institutions of Northern Ireland.
The budget can be found here.
