The new National Party Leader has vowed to reform the party after successfully winning the party leadership election last month.
Overseen by the Electoral Commission, the Nationals’ leadership election took place after their former leader and Prime Minister TheRightHon OBE resigned following losing the general election in May. In his resignation, he publicly shared that he felt “proud of what we achieved” and hoped the party would “unite behind a single experienced candidate for leader”.

As he has got comfortable in his new role, Kingmaster told the BBC that his goal is to “continue a gradual and steady growth of the party” with policy creation to be “flexible” to reflect all the voices of his MPs.
Prior to the general election, the National Party served in government, with Kingmaster serving as the Foreign Secretary under TheRightHon’s premiership.
Reflecting on the former Prime Minister’s achievements in office, he told the BBC that he generally wants to “continue what TheRightHon has done so far, which I’m well equipped for, given I’ve been alongside him”.
