In a statement released by party leader NotChocolatePlayz, the decision was described as “a historical day for our party”, marking a return from the “Cavalier Party” name to what members “are most recognised as”.
The statement said the motion received majority support from the party board and would form part of a wider strategy to “re-establish ourselves back at the forefront of politics” ahead of the next election campaign.
Speaking in the announcement, NotChocolatePlayz reflected on his political beginnings within the Conservative movement before joining what later became the Unionists.
“Here I am a couple of years later reviving the name of political dominance, a name that won elections, a name that delivered crucial change to the nation,” he said.
The leader also stressed that the rebrand alone would not secure electoral success, adding that “dedication and effort” would be needed over the coming months.
